Dermalogica Clear Start

24 October 2018

I was sent these by Influenster to try out a while ago. This post has been sat half finished in my drafts ever since. Today I am finally getting my shit together.

Dermalogica is a skincare brand that I am forever seeing people rave about. As they are on the pricier side these are the first things I have ever tried from them. I'm kind of tempted to try more now but also wary of not getting on with expensive products when I have cheaper ones I already love.

These two products are both Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Paraben Free and contain no artificial fragrances and colours. I also really like the cute, colourful packaging. It's simple but looks great.

Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask* - £19.99

The fizzing formula of this mask claims to effectively clean pores and help target blackheads. It helps to open pores, decongest skin and facilitate blackhead extractions.

It contains
Sulfur - Antimicrobial benefits
Kaolin Clay - Absorbs excess oil & purifies skin
Apple fruit Extract - Hydrates the skin

So I'm not entirely sure how effective this mask is and for £20 I probably wouldn't buy it again. I haven't noticed a major difference in my blackheads. My skin feels nice and soft after use but also a tad dry. However, it is one of the more fun masks to use. It applies as a cream and then when it starts to fizz it bubbles up into a foam. As it's fizzing it tickles which is such a weird feeling. It smells a bit like refreshers as well.

This booster is a fast-acting acne treatment that works within 15 minutes.

It contains
Salicylic Acid - Helps kill breakout-causing bacteria for rapid skin clearing
Patented TT Tech & Phytoplankton - Works with skins natural microbiome to prevent over drying
Niacinamide - Reinforces skins defensive barrier & helps even skin tone
Seaweed Derived Chrondrus Crispus Extract - Soothes Irritated skin

I absolutely adore this stuff. Although it did take me a while to work out that you have to push the button on the bottom of the packaging to get the product out. I put this on at night and when I wake up any breakouts are greatly reduced and less red to the point of barely being visible. I also found that this was way less drying than other spot treatments I've tried. You know how some just turn your spots into a weird crust *vom - I hate that word*. This one doesn't which means you can put it on in the morning, leave the house and let it do its thing without anyone knowing.

So to round up, the Fizz Mask is a pricey gimmick but the breakout clearing booster is a life saver.

Have you tried anything from Dermalogica? What would you recommend?
