University

6 August 2011

Yesterday I went up to Bangor to visit the university again. It is my first choice uni, I just have to get the grades to go there. I'm trying to get organised and sort everything out. The worst part is not knowing.

The reason for going up yesterday was to look at the accomadation and chose my room. We looked at two fully wheelchair accessible rooms. The first one I looked at had a little step into the bathroom, the building was difficult to enter in a wheelchair and the parking wasnt as close but it was still a really nice room. The second room was still quite difficult to enter in a wheelchair but easier than the first, there was no step into the bathroom and the parking was right by the door. I chose the second room and it was really nice inside. The only downside is it is on the second floor so I will have to use the lift everyday. The plus side to that is that I might get over my dislike of lifts.

I also met with the health & safety people and the man who looks after the buildings. They were extremley nice and were looking at moving door handles to make everything easier for me and putting in an extra disabled space as the two there are already used. I can't get over how much help I am getting.

Also my DSA application has been approved and my laptop was delivered the other day. Its so light and has all the software I need on it. I never expected to have so much help. My personal care has also been approved. I just need to wait untill the 18th August for my results and then I will know where I will be going and can get everything sorted. I'm so nervous.

I'm really excited about going to uni and making new friends but I'm scared about living on my own because my mum always looks after me when I'm really ill.

I'll keep you all posted and let you know what my results are and where I will be going.

Beth xoxo
